2007-Jun-28: Emergency shutdown of two German nuclear power plants
According to a press release from Vattenfall Europe, the two nuclear power plants Brunsbüttel and Krümmel located in northern Germany, shut down on the afternoon of June 28th, 2007.
According to Vattenfall, both shut downs were due to short circuits in the power grid. At Krümmel, the shut down was caused by a fire in a power transformer. Both power plants are reported to be in a safe state and no radioactive material has been set free.
From the power grid point of view, QNE continuous grid monitoring documented the events. Measurements were registered in the low voltage (230/400V) grid at QNE headquarters.
